Each year, fifth grade students at Central Elementary observe Veterans Day by participating in a poster project in their art class. Under the guidance of art teacher Melissa Whitaker, each fifth grade student designs and creates a poster commemorating an aspect of Veterans Day such as service, remembrance, or gratitude. The posters are entered into a contest, with winners from each class announced at the district's Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 11. This year's winners are:
