During the week of February 10-14, Dexter Public Schools and the Dexter Parks and Recreation Department are partnering to host a fundraiser for the Boon Park Inclusive Playground Project. DPR is raising money to create a playground that provides opportunities for social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and sensory development for children of all abilities.
This playground would benefit all children by providing inclusive equipment for those with disabilities. The closest playground with handicapped-accessible equipment is located in Cape Girardeau or Poplar Bluff. This would allow our students the ability to play with their peers right here in our community.
Central Elementary classrooms are participating in a "dollar drive" competition this week to help raise money for this project. Students in the class in each grade that donates the most money will receive a one-day pool pass!
